XGrid on CodePlex

Dear All:

I would like to announce to you that I have finally released the XGrid Control on CodePlex at the following URL:

http://www.codeplex.com/Wiki/View.aspx?ProjectName=xgrid&title=Home

For those of you who don't know what the XGrid Control is, you should pass by my article on ASPAlliance.com:

http://aspalliance.com/946 -- Extended GridView Control (XGrid)

I hope you will all benefit from this control, and I wish you would be able whenever you add any new feature or improve a current feature to send it back to me, to publish it as a new release with new features to allow all to benefit from it!

Thanks a lot for your support and wish all the best to our new baby, XGRID!

Regards

# XGrid on ContentPage

Hi Bilal, I have posted the problem in xGrid forum @ codeplex. I repeat it here: if I use in content page, then the should also be in the content page. However, the GetEscReference() & GetOnClickReference() functions for ContextMenu is invoked at the "onkeypress" & "onclick" events of the tag....but the tag is defined in the master page!!! So there's a problem if I am using xGrid in the content page. Last but not the least, I am a novice in ASp .net coding, so maybe I have asked a very stupid question with an obvious solution, but plz do reply with the solution, plz!! Thanx in advance!

# re: XGrid on CodePlex

Looking at the control. It is great.

Some things could've been better documented though. Like the use the AscImage and DescImage. In my app, I do not need these, however without looking at the code (and coming real close to modifying it I did not realize that I could avoid having the arrows come up if I had set the value of either URL to "default.jpg". This, btw, might also cause people issues as someone might have a valid default.jpg that is indeed an arrow.

Otherwise, thanks for the control. It really helped.

# CUSTOM PAGING - Problem when editing and item.

Bilal,

First of all thanks so much for taking the time to create this control. It has helped me a great deal.

I had posted the following message at Codeplex but I'll post it in here too just in case you get a chance to take a look at it.

-----------------------------------

Hi,

I was wondering if you could help me to implement custom paging in XGrid? See, I was trying to implement the information that I found in this article into Xgrid: http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/GridViewNeatPaging.asp but I'm having some problems. Let me be more specific. The paging works fine but when I try to edit one of the items in my gridview then the pageindex gets reseted and the wrong item gets updated. I've tried to keep the pageindex in the ViewState but it I lose it at some point.

Anyway, thanks so much for your help and for sharing such a great project.

-------------------------------------------

See, the reason why I need to do custom paging is because my dataset consists of 5000 records more or less so if I don't use custom paging then I get into performance issues.

Anyway, I hope you can shed some light so I can find a solution for my problem.

Thanks:

Mario E.
